Wisconsin Author, Marla McKenna, of popular baseball-themed children’s book, “Mom’s Big Catch” is heading to Nashville for the annual Baseball Winter Meetings™ & will be visiting several Nashville schools.

  PRLog (Press Release) - Nov 30, 2012 -
A passionate advocate of promoting literacy to young readers and encouraging children to believe in their dreams, Marla McKenna has scheduled time to visit Nashville classrooms while also promoting Mom’s Big Catch, at *The Baseball Winter Meetings™. Marla has shared her enchanting family story and positive message with schools all across Wisconsin, to Arizona, Illinois, and now Nashville.

As a special treat,  the Nashville Sounds mascot Ozzie will be stopping by Crieve Hall Elementary during Marla’s visit. Area children have grown to know and love Ozzie through The Nashville Sounds Reading Club which reaches over 75,000 children in over 275 schools in the Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky region

"I'm so excited about this trip to Nashville and have been truly humbled by the amount of community support I've received helping to organize my school visits and creating opportunities to introduce Mom's Big Catch to local children" said the author.

This will be Marla’s second year attending the annual Baseball Winter Meetings™ in Nashville. “Last year I came on my own and walked around the trade show area handing out my newly published book promoting it to everyone I could which gained the attention of  West Virginia’s Bluefield Blue Jays and lead to a custom order.”  The book can be customized to fit any baseball team, including logos, colors, uniforms, stadiums, etc. True to her cause, Marla’s heartfelt mission with Mom’s Big Catch continues gaining fans.  “ I have been working with many teams to promote literacy, family and baseball with Mom’s Big Catch. There are currently three versions available, the original version of Mom’s Big Catch, the Wrigley Field version, and the Bluefield Blue Jays version.”

You won't find the author on her own during this year’s tradeshow. Marla has been invited to sign books and share Mom’s Big Catch Monday 5-8pm at the Outbid Booth #108 and Tuesday from noon-3pm, alongside baseball Hall of Fame pitcher Fergie Jenkins. “I had the honor of sitting beside former Cubs baseball Hall of Fame pitcher Fergie Jenkins at Hohokam Stadium in Mesa, Arizona during spring training. Fergie was kind enough to sign my book for his fans too. It was a wonderful experience!” Fergie will be signing autographs and discussing how he will be utilizing Outbid.com online auction platform to raise money and awareness for the Fergie Jenkins Foundation.

Mom’s Big Catch is also a vehicle for Marla to raise awareness and contributions to help ‘man’s best friend’. Partial proceeds from Mom’s Big Catch are being donated to the Linda Blair WorldHeart Foundation, and singer, actor and best-selling author Rick Springfield has agreed to join Marla by personally contributing matching funds. It seems the Mom's Big Catch author has created her own triple-play to the benefit of children, baseball, and even our beloved canine friends, and this is just her second inning!
